Description:
The Standard - AAPR6 - has major implications throughout upper level mathematics (mainly when pre-calculus and calculus students discuss the end behavior of rational functions) and is based on solid mathematical foundation and definition. What this pencast will do is to incorporate common definitions and practices routinely found in elementary schools - such as What it means to be a "rational number?" Also, this pencast will be a gentle reminder about how to use the "house algorithm" for the long division of two numbers...and how we can extrapolate this information into both the definition of a rational expressions (algebraic in nature) and their rewriting thereof using long division.
